About Florissant Fire and Rescue

The Florissant Fire Protection District is a Special District organized under provisions of the State of Colorado to provide fire suppression and protection and emergency services to the residents and visitors of the District. We are a small, rural volunteer fire/rescue department whose primary service area encompasses 66 square miles of mountainous terrain (average elevation of 8,192’) in Teller County, Colorado. The population of Florissant’s 80816 zip code is 5,180. The Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is within our District. Our Mission Statement is: To provide exceptional emergency services with an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Commitment to the Community

The Florissant Fire Protection District Board is committed to
providing leadership, financial accountability, Community
Involvement and Fire Department readiness to the citizens of
the Florissant Fire District.

Commitment to the Staff and Volunteers

This commitment extends to the volunteers and staff of the Fire
Department to insure their safety as they serve the community
by insuring that they have the proper PPE and training, well
maintained apparatus, and all medical equipment necessary.

Assist in the development, and retention of highly skilled firefighters and emergency response personnel.

Assist with recruitment of volunteers in all aspects of operations, not just for responders, but also for those who do the many other things to maintain the stations, assist with special events and after fire response support.

Collaboration

Collaborate with neighboring fire districts and emergency response agencies to provide seamless emergency response and mutual aid support.

Community Education

Promote fire prevention and life safety through public education and outreach programs.

Communication

Maintain open and transparent communication with the community and stakeholders about district operations, activities, and performance.

Response Capabilities

Maintain and improve the district's overall response capabilities through ongoing training, education, and equipment upgrades.

Stability and sustainability

Ensure the district's financial stability and sustainability through sound fiscal management and responsible use of resources.
